APT English Language Course Packages at a Glance

APT students learn quickly and instill in themselves competence through our English Language Packages and other academic programmes. Our centre specializes in intensive English Language courses and preparation in academic subjects that cater to all types of learners including those at schools and colleges. VISTA courses are designed to assist our students in attaining their desired competence in English. They can, therefore, look forward to better study opportunities within the education system in Nepal and abroad, and to integrating themselves more readily into their respective professions. And there are also some students who come to us simply in order to improve their English despite the fact that they have no intention of entering a college or joining a profession. The courses hence satisfy the needs of all learners from teens to young adults to adults and the like.

Moreover, we have assessment rods to ascertain students’ academic potential. This, in turn, helps us determine the latter’s needs and ability to fulfill their aspirations. It, therefore, remains our primary goal to ensure that our students are motivated and enthused to materialize their goals.

Beginner / Elementary
The Beginner/Elementary course is for students with very little or no English. The course is topic-based and includes numerous reading, writing, speaking and listening tasks, which engage students through a variety of media including craft activities, interactive tasks, independent tasks and role plays. At the end of the course students will be able to talk about topics such as:

  • themselves, their families and their interests (present simple, past simple)
  • health and the environment (present continuous)
  • places they have visited and things they have done (past simple, past continuous)
  • future holidays (going to, future)

Pre-Intermediate
The Pre-Intermediate course is for the students with a Basic English vocabulary and for those able to carry themselves well through a sustained conversation involving places of interest and some general knowledge. The course is topic-based and gives students opportunities to acquire language through a variety of creative, independent, interactive projects. At the end of the course, the students will presumably be able to discuss with an increasingly descriptive language on topics that include:

  • living and studying in a foreign country (past simple, past continuous)
  • the arts (present simple, passive voice)
  • personal opinions (adjective + infinitive)
  • history (used to + infinitive, past perfect)
  • the natural world (question-tags, second conditional)

Intermediate
The Intermediate course is for the students who have covered most of basic grammar and can hold a conversation using some descriptive language, but who may not yet be familiar with the dynamics of a natural conversation. Students complete a foundational, preparatory work for IELTS/ TOEFL. At the end of the course, students should successfully consolidate what they have learnt so far and use their knowledge and skills with a desirable degree of fluency to discuss topics such as:

  • the qualities and features of good relationships (question forms in main tenses and with modals)
  • world news and celebrity gossips (present perfect and irregular verbs)
  • rules and regulations (modals, don’t have to/ have to)
  • different tastes in fashion (conditionals)
  • past regrets (if only, past perfect)

Upper-Intermediate
The Upper-Intermediate course is for students who have reached a higher level of fluency and are ready to explore nuances of the English language like a native speaker would. The topics covered here include real-life situations and give students an opportunity to focus on the functional, social language they will always feel the need of in order to cope with these situations. On completion of the course, students will be ready to pursue studies that prepare them for IELTS/ TOEFL. They will acquire a selection of language skills including the ability to:

  • predict the outcome of a practical joke
  • discuss crime and punishment
  • guess meanings from contexts
  • identify homophones
  • agree, disagree, and interrupt others using polite forms

Advanced
The Advanced course aims to develop learners’ language skills in preparation for IELTS/ TOEFL. The course is designed to build students’ confidence and proficiency through skill development and exam practice. The topics designated for this package include familiar issues that learners experience on a day-to-day basis, such as abstract issues like sentiments, religion and philosophy as well as the environment, communications and trade. The language focus is very relevant to IELTS/TOEFL and an ample emphasis is placed on test-taking strategies. Students here will learn to:

  • understand more idioms
  • use phrasal verbs
  • interpret non-verbal communication
  • practice language in context

German Language

Whether you are going to study in Bachelor degree in German Medium in Germany or Master degree in English medium, German language courses are very important be it for your study or day to day life in Germany. Even(German Academic Exchange Service) recommends students to learn as much as possible while the students are still in their home country.
APT started its German Language courses from October 2014 upon the requests of our previous students because of the fact that the existing language schools then and now are still unable to impart quality language courses to students for their studies in Germany. We believe that quality of German language teaching is the most important aspect of our language courses.
